Accelerated Freefall (AFF) Instruction
Accelerated Freefall (AFF) is an 8 level program designed to turn you into a
safe and competent skydiver in a short amount of time. Extensive classroom
training will prepare you for your first AFF skydive (level one). On that
skydive two highly skilled and specially trained instructors will hold on to you
from your exit at up to 13,000 feet until you deploy your parachute at 4,500
feet. A ground instructor will then talk to you by radio and assist you as you
steer your parachute to the target landing area.
Your instructors will coach you in freefall, as well as on the ground, before
and after your skydive. Subsequent AFF training levels are designed to add to
your skills and self-confidence. After successfully completing levels one two
and three with two instructors, you will then complete levels four through eight
with one instructor. After completion of level eight you will then qualify for
solo skydives. You will possess aerial skills that would have taken dozens,
sometimes hundreds of skydives to learn via the conventional static line method!
Twenty five jumps are required for a license.
After obtaining a license your jump cost will be reduced, because you will no
longer need an instructor in the airplane with you. If you continue in the
sport, you may eventually become an instructor yourself.
