Older Post from when I worked in TV…

Stuck in a rut……. And I can’t see the rim

Stuck in a rut and I can’t see the rim,
My days at work are now boring and dim,
The fire that existed in me many years ago,
has been extinguished by micro-managing bosses and politics everywhere I go.
To work in TV, I have traveled the land,
but each time I move, the same problems there stand.
I need to break out, The rut is a trap,
It zaps all my energy, so at home I just nap.
I need to get motivated, find a new job you see,
I know there is still spark for that fire inside of me!

Older Blog entry… 15 minutes and more

Posted by admin  Published in Older Blog Posts

Andy Warhall was wrong….
People no longer get only 15 minutes of fame.
Sure, some people live there lives in complete obscurity, but once someone’s name gets into the headlines, it is all they can do to keep it there.
Take for example some of our former American Idol contestants… Ok, so you didn’t win American Idol, how long do we have to refer to you as a former star or former contestant on American Idol. Yes, small town America needs it’s local hero’s, but when do we wake up and smell the coffee. Guess what people, every now and then, your star looses it’s shine, and you fade into the background like the rest of us.
The never ending local TV appearances, the book deals, the non-stop cameo’s in anything to extend that 15 minutes.
I could go on about this one for a week!
The talk show circuit and “Book Tour” world, has become the “Hollywood Squares” for the rest of us. When you see them, someone will cry out “Oh yeah, I remember him… he did that thing with that such and such.” And then another full second or two is added to the legendary “15 minutes of fame.”

John Stewart on Crossfire in 2004

Posted by admin  Published in Funny Stuff, Older Blog Posts, Rants

John Stewart on Crossfire.
So, I love this whole video, and I have to post it here. (or at least link to it.)
Back in 2004, John Stewart from the Daily Show was on the CNN program Crossfire. A show that he often mocked and had rather harsh opinions of. Well, when he was on the show, he actually called one of the hosts a dick and asked them to stop hurting America.

Enjoy!
